Sealand Contractors

This is a Sealand contractors truck at a job site in the middle of a forest preserve surrounded by trash and cigarette butts. When I asked the crew lead if they could pick up the trash, he responded by having an absolute meltdown, screaming, crying, and throwing a temper tantrum. I do not recommend Sealand unless you want your job site completely trashed and an unhinged alcoholic crew lead.

Sealand Contractors has shown a blatant disregard for public safety and accountability. Their negligence in the street and water project at N Sharon Amity Road and Magnolia Blossom Way in Charlotte, NC caused significant damage to my vehicle — damage that was entirely preventable had they maintained even the most basic standards in their work zone. I reported the incident to Charlotte officials and NCDOT within 15 minutes, and within the same hour Sealand quietly filled the large pothole with gravel. That quick patch alone proves they knew the condition of their work zone was hazardous and unsafe. When I contacted Sealand, I was asked to gather multiple repair quotes — which I did in good faith — only to then be brushed off and told the matter would simply be “sent to their insurance company.” That is not accountability, that is avoidance. Becky Guelli, their representative, offered no real resolution and made it clear Sealand had no intention of making things right. This type of runaround is unacceptable from any contractor, let alone one entrusted with taxpayer-funded projects in Charlotte. Work zones should protect the community — not endanger it. The City of Charlotte and NCDOT should seriously reconsider allowing Sealand Contractors to manage public projects if this is the level of care and responsibility they provide. Sealand’s lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic concern for safety makes it clear they are unfit to be trusted with public infrastructure work.

Having just read an article in the Utica Observer-Dispatch today, 12/18/2018 about the non-profit store, Your Bargain Grocer, in West Utica who recently opened to give local residents a low cost option to buy healthy food, I was struck by the article stating that there was an issue about repairing the sidewalks. At a location that Sealand Contractors had partially occupied while being the primary contractor of the North-South Arterial for the last several years. You mean to tell me that after the thousands and likely millions that Sealand raked in from the City of Utica, they couldn’t repair or replace a sidewalk for a nonprofit at cost or for free?? Absolutely reprehensible. I will also submit a letter to the editor on this sad commentary.
