I was on the investor side. Big mistake. It initially sounded good, passive income, Equity and Help does all the work. The problems started almost immediately. Equity and Help had no direct employees in the City that we invested in 3 houses. We’d get a monthly statement but the data was already old. We’d call with questions and it would take 5 calls before anyone from Equity and Help would call back. Then we’d have to call 5 more times to get them to get any answers, which most times was not much information. One house got trashed, literally, and we didn’t find out about it for months. It was brutal. We finally got all 3 deeds transferred into our names and are managing them ourselves, after having to spend $50,000 of our money on fixing the trashed house. Also, we found out later that the value of the houses were about half of what we paid to Equity and Help, and the locations were in a high crime, undesirable area of the City. My nickname for them became Equity and Hype, but it could also be Equity and No Help. It’s a good idea but it is a horrendously irresponsible and unprofessional company. Do your research thoroughly to avoid my headaches. We no longer have anything to do with Equity and Help and would never recommend them to anybody.

It has become clear after several years of dealing with these people that have made a pretty bad mistake investing with these people. Unless you have a lot of money that you can afford to lose.....run fast from this company. The Philanthropist investor (that's what they call them) have a strong likelihood of losing their entire investment to a wide range of management/administrative fees. Because the peoprdle they "discover" to buy these homes are notoriously unreliable the investor is up against large eviction and re-set up fees. They clearly don't vett these prospective home buyers very much. I now need to figure out how to extract myself from this very poor investment. The 5 star reviews on here are clearly employees or paid reviewers.

All this company does is contribute to blight in local cities while effectively running a buy-here-pay-here style business that preys on low income families. I own a home next door to one of their properties, and they refuse to clean it up, and refuse to make any type of improvements to the property. I have even offered to purchase the property (for $20,000 more than they paid for it) just so I can bring this property back and make it nicer, and they told me the lowest they'd sell it to me is $55,000 more than what they paid for it. They have done NOTHING to this property, and it has been abandoned now for over a year. The city finally came and boarded up the door, but since they are still paying taxes on the property, and refuse to sell it - the house will continue to sit.

I recommend using this company to get yourself a home. After never being able to buy a house they were able to get me in a house and even giving me over 40 houses to choose from, I was able to pick the right one for my family . Even after getting me into the home they help me do so many upgrades . As far as payment they let me pick what day I make my payments . I cant say enough how wonderful this company is . Thank you. To there entire team .....

I received a great business partnership with Equity & Help Inc taking care of the lawn for one of their properties, Nik has been great to work with getting me set up and finalize the deal and expediting my payments. Payments arrive usually 2-3 days after submitting my pictures of service performed. I recommend this company and would work for them in the future! Kenny Smith aka Skin-N-Yards
