Do not recommend this company. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had when dealing with a contractor. I wish I could put pictures of their work here because it’s that bad. I was overcharged for the job and for what they did complete. I paid $11,200 for floors(LVP) in a 854sq ft house. Floor trim in one bedroom 10x10 and 3 interior door replacements and a drywall replacement in a small closet. The door replacement on the small closet was installed improperly. The door does not shut correctly. The floors were installed with cracks/chips and horrible cuts (even large gaps) around door frames. When I contacted the owner about the poor quality of the workmanship, he said the flooring came out of the box damaged and then proceeded to blame my husband for being lazy and sitting in the living room. He was trying to stay out of the way and said when they were ready for him to move he would get out. I told the owner Charles that I thought it was unprofessional to not fix the poor workmanship and to blame everything else and he said that they would only come out to just caulk and paint the new floors. I didn’t think this was showing good quality work since it was brand new floors. After a long discussion with my husband, myself and Charles the owner said he would do the repairs. (Only if I wasn’t there but my husband could be) I thought it was rude but agreed because I was just hoping they would fix the issues. Set up an appointment day, he canceled the day before and then we set another day. We called to confirm the appointment the day prior, just to be sure. (We don’t reside here full time) My husband drove 6 hours to be there and nobody showed up!? When my husband called they said they went into my house when nobody was there and did the repairs. Without permission, plus not sure how this would have happened when he canceled the first time. This was a flat out lie, there were no repairs, replacements, or even painting the new floors like he wanted to do. Now they are refusing to answer our calls and concerns on the repairs or why they entered my house without permission. ( I don’t believe they did because nothing was done, we also live in a gated community and all contractors have to be given permission by the office to enter) I’m so disappointed in the quality of work and poor customer service. What a scam!!

I cannot say enough about Southern Construction. Charlie, Terri, Tim, Freddy...the whole crew. This is a family-owned business that loves Panama City and is interested in making it beautiful again. We worked with Southern Construction to renovate our 25+ year home that was destroyed by Hurricane Michael. We initially worked with an out of town contractor who took a lot of our time and money and all we had to show for it was unpermitted and unacceptable work. When we finally broke ties with them and engaged Southern Construction to fix up our home our faith in decent people who want to do good work was restored. With Southern Construction, you can expect to work with individuals who are smart, experts in their trades, and who are genuinely good people. Maybe the first two matter to you more, and that's okay because those things matter, but the fact that these folks were responsive, empathetic, honest and caring really made a difference on the project we worked together on for just over one year. They put our cinder block house back together from the studs including; new plumbing, electrical, insulation, drywall, doors, trim, paint, kitchen and bathrooms, lighting...literally everything, and the quality of their work was phenomenal. If you're looking for a contractor to work with on your next home project, I absolutely recommend the crew at Southern Construction.

I cannot seem to respond to reviews individually. But I will respond as a whole. Our whole area was inundated with more work than we could do and we, like most local contractors, were just trying to keep up. For the two or three customers who took the time to leave a poor review, there are 75-100 more customers who were pleased that haven't taken the time to leave a great review. In my reviews, you have the following: * Two people that were not customers leaving reviews when they do not have the details. * Another customer that did not want to have to pay for extensive framing damages that had to be done before her metal roof could be installed. * The wife of a sub-contractor that performed a job so poorly that we had to redo it. Due to the volume of the storm, we had to hire more people and crews and we sometimes find out they do not know as much as they think they do. I have redone a couple jobs and made sure every customer was made whole and happy. We are not perfect and we have made mistakes but we have done our very best to be a good steward to our community. Please feel free to call and we will give you dozens of good references for work that you need us to do for you.

After Hurricane Michael, Southern Construction Services was there to repair my home. Southern Construction Services was there from start to finish with the work done to my home. I have also used SCS two more times and couldn't be happier. Thank you very much Southern Construction Team.

They had me wait two weeks for a estimate. Then I finally called them to ask how long would it be before they would email me the estimate. She said I would receive the estimate by tomorrow. I called her again the next day and she told me that they were too booked up to give me an estimate that I needed to call another Construction Company. I should have knew better because the whole process started off very unprofessional. Now we are back to square one.
